I am proud to have initiated and contributed to many projects locally with intentions to encourage connection through creativity. If I could bring my experience and creativity to your community, organisation or event like in the examples below, contact me! I'm full of ideas and enthusiasm for bringing people together with art.
Uniting Generations - Stifford Clays, Essex
At the beginning of 2018, I reached out to St Anne's sheltered housing facility and to Stifford Clays Primary School, who happen to be neighbours. I proposed a collaboration between them to reduce loneliness and try to bridge the gap between older and younger people...with an intergenerational art workshop!
Each week children from the primary school came with chaperones to St Anne's where I ran community-themed art activities to encourage confidence, communication and collaboration between the children and residents. It was a great success with friendships formed and community spirit sparked. Plus, it was brilliant to see social and creative skills being prioritised in primary education!
'Involve' Club Nights - Basildon, Essex
Therapy in Musical Expression are an amazing local group running weekly club nights called 'Involve' for anyone with a disability, and I have the pleasure of attending to run art activities in a quieter spot of the club. Attendees take a break from karaoke to use all sorts of materials, make great artwork and enjoy sitting with and talking to new people.
Dog Parties - Chafford Hundred, Essex
Starting as a surprise party full of dogs for my sister, I reached out to local dog owners and organised a meet up - which has now become a monthly club! Through interactions with local people and lots of dogs, it's become a unique social opportunity in the community with new people joining and enjoying it each month. Who doesn't feel great after an afternoon spent cuddling dogs?!
